Ribbon Blanket

These were first introduced to me by a group of moms online. I thought this would be a great idea for a very special little girl in our family. I found some Monsters, Inc. flannel fabric (one of her favorite movies) and made one for her Christmas present. I used the same fabric for the front and back with satin ribbon in white, baby blue, black, and baby pink.

Purple Ruffled Hat

The color on this is slightly washed out, but it is a light purple. It has a cute little ruffled edge. I thought that made it a little more "girly". I will try to take another picture of the hat that will show the ruffle more.

Blue Camouflage Hat

I made this hat in a blue camouflage yarn. It is blues and browns that is suppose to make a camouflage pattern. Well, I tried this in a hat and it ended up making more stripes than camouflage. I love the colors, though.

Update: I have sold this hat. I have changed the label to For Sale (per order).

This hat is made with a wool blend yarn in a forest green heather. There looks to be little flecks of a brown in the yarn.

Denim Line

I have made several hats out of a denim color yarn. My mother said the denim color is her favorite. I am planning to post a different denim colored hat every couple of days. This is a basic hat made with double crochet.

Rose Filet Stripe

This is another hat with a filet stitch made from a rose color yarn. The lower picture is the official color swatch from the manufacturer.

My First Poncho

Last year I started making a poncho for my two year old niece. It has been laying in my basket 95% completed for months taunting me. So this week I finished it. I am excited that my first poncho came out quite well, if I may say so myself. This is a lovely pink chenille yarn. It is super soft!

Baby Boy Hat

Do you want a happy baby this winter?
Don't leave them BLUE!

Get them a great terry yarn
crochet hat to keep them warm!

This is a great hat made from terry yarn in baby blue. It (as you can see) is too big for a four month old, so I guess it would be great for a 6+ month old baby. I also have this yarn in Pink, White, Yellow and Green.

And Now For Something Completely Different

For the Country Fair today I decided to add something to our booth other than my hats. I had made framed pictures for my husband when I got pregnant to give him the good news. This is what I used for the baby. I decided to make cards using this design. I can customize the colors and even the writing.

Another Country Fair

The Sam Houston Historic Schoolhouse Guild is putting on a Country Fair. This is taking place for the public on Saturday, September 8th, from 10am-5pm. I am going to be there displaying my wares hoping to find some good homes for my hats! ;) This is an established fair and there will be quite a bit of fun going on from what I hear. I am looking forward to this experience and hope that it will be a good time for all of us.

White Hat With Pins

This is a hat made of a white boucle style yarn. This is a basic design that goes with about everything. I also made the pins in the lower picture so that it would match the three colors of coats that were owned by the recipient.

Wool Hiking Hats

I have made several hats that are made out of a lightweight wool blend yarn. I made one for my husband and brother-in-law and they love to wear them hiking. Below is my brother-in-law's hat. It has a ribbed edge at the bottom of the hat.

Diagonal Square Filet Hat

This is my favorite hat that I have made so far. I was trying to think of some ideas for designs for my hats and I remembered a design from a crochet pattern book. It is a Filet design similar to th blanket in the earlier post, My First Crochet Projects. The pattern was filet squares in a diagonal line. The pink stripe was a neccesity rather than great design thought. At the time I had made this hat I had never used more than one color (I had not attempted to change colors yet), but I had to due to running out of the grey before the hat was complete.

Edwardian Scarf

This is a scarf that I made for a friend of mine for their birthday. The yarn color is Edwardian (Heathered Solid. Dark, almost iron-gray). It is a very soft boucle style yarn. This is one of my favorite kinds yarn, though my favorite color is Gothic (Heathered Solid. Cool dark purple, accented with black and gray).

Christmas 2004

I forgot that while I was in the middle of making the baby blanket I actually finished three other items for Christmas presents. I only have pictures of the two scarves I made my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I never got a picture of my Chinese sister-in-law with her hat. I made the scarves out of a Boucle yarn, one in black and one in gray.

I Am In A Show!

I am so excited about this weekend! On Saturday I will be in the South Knox Arts & Crafts Show. This will be held at the Gov. John Sevier Home (Marble Springs) on August 4th from 9am-2pm. There will be lots of stuff going on there. There will be the artist and crafters as well as tours, reenactors, music, food, a silent auction, and a flag ceremony with a local Boy Scout Troop. It seems to be a great time and better yet, it is FREE! They have been seeking out local artist and crafters to have booths to sell their wares. I was excited and wanted to join, so I did. I am going to go and have a booth with my crochet hats (and other things). I have my sister-in-law joining me with her oil paintings and my mother-in-law with her cards made from her wildflower pictures. I cannot wait to see how this goes. I am a little nervous because I have never done this sort of thing before. Hopefully all will go well.

My First Crochet Projects

This is the first baby blanket I made. I made this in 2005 for my son's teacher who was having a little boy. This was my own design from a basic pattern from the book "The Crochet Stitch Bible" called filet squares.

I also made a baby hat as well. This was made from a wonderful terry yarn. I love terry yarn for baby hats. It is a soft yarn and looks very good. Since this time I have made several of these hats for other babies. I think this is the only picture I have of this hat. I will try to find a picture of one of the pink ones I made.
